The resins used are tailored for applications that require excellent stiffness, high impact characteristics, chemical resistance, thermoformability and longevity. FDA grades are available for products used in contact with food and beverages. GEM equipment easily accepts all types of additives such as colorant, antioxidants for heat and weather, flame retardants, stabilizers, antimicrobial for food and medical applications, plus additives that provide protection against ultra violet light.

Equipment is state of the art from the computer controlled extrusion system to the quality assurance laboratory. ISO 9000 procedures monitor and control the process to the highest quality standards and consistency. Physical and mechanical properties are measured with precision, including color, gloss, surface hardness and melt flows to name a few. CAD/CAM software compliments the conversion operations in CNC cutting, routing and stenciling.

Cost containment is emphasized for the benefit of the customers, through a number of raw material suppliers, and a huge storage capacity exceeding 2 million lbs. A recycling operation with a capacity of 500,000 lbs per month can convert scrap to clean and color segregated usable pellets.

  • GEM has the ability to simultaneously extrude two different colors having a 10%, 80% 10% sandwich type cross section to allow for routing needed in signage, playground equipment and decorative applications.

  • Besides state-of-the art manufacturing equipment, GEM also boasts the latest in laboratory equipment for precise measurements for thickness and full spectrum readings under daylight, incandescent lighting and cool fluorescent lighting and can also measure gloss.

  • GEM can perform ash testing, detailed resin analysis, and short and long term weather serviceability and also test for flame spread and smoke development.

  • GEM has a vendor matrix that allows it to take advantage of different price ratios with changes in cost from crude based feedstock and natural gas based feedstock.

  • GEM has a storage capacity of 400,000 pounds of resins in silos and additional storage capacity approximating 2,000,000 pounds to make it a very competitive manufacturer of HDPE sheet.

  • Our granulating facility has a capacity of 500,000 pounds per month to process scrap sheet materials converting them to usable pellets for processing through our extruders.
